Occupational Accident

Injury cover for owner-operators who fall outside workers compensation.

An owner-operator working as an independent contractor generally is not an employee, so workers compensation does not apply. That leaves a real gap: a serious injury on the job with no wage replacement and no medical cover.

Occupational accident fills it with a defined set of benefits. It is not a substitute for workers compensation where the law requires that instead, and the distinction between contractor and employee is worth getting right.

Who usually needs it

Independent owner-operators and the carriers who contract with them, where workers compensation is not the required or available route.
