Workers compensation pays the medical bills and replaces part of the wages of an employee who is injured or becomes ill because of their job. In Oregon, as in most states, it is required by law once you have employees.
It also protects the business: in exchange for covering the injury regardless of fault, it generally limits an employee's ability to sue you over it.
